For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 77 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 77 | My 51 gmc does not have the primary hood latch. Are there other options other than the ad trucks. I have looked at the mail order catalogs and cannot seem to find just the primary latch stud and spring. If there are other vehicles that would work please let me know. I have seen some on ebay for the chevelles and novas that might work but I am not sure. Any help would be aprreciated. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 684 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 684 | Why don't you put a wanted ad in the swap meet. It came out of a early 80's van. Can someone measure theirs to see if it will be long enough? The one that I bought has a bolt length of 2" and a shoulder width of 1". I would check it out on the truck but I won't be able to until the weekend. I have picks below. hood latch pin/spring hood latch pin/spring 2 | | | | | Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 77 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 77 | I found the time today to try out the new/used part. I worked great. I did not have a nut on my hood for the pin to screw into, but I did see the spot weld in the corners of the old square nut. I ended up welding a new nut in its place and it worked great. Maybe this will help someone else. | | |
