I'm trying to come up with an approx. weight for a single axle C80 tractor (1965) with a 409, 5spd., 18500 lb. axle, 5th wheel, cast spoke 10x20, 50 gal fuel. Anybody have one with a known empty weight? I'm guessing around 8500 lbs. Appreciate the help!

James

Just asked a friend who owns a 65 C80 single axle tractor. His estimate was 10,500.

I appreciate the info, your weight sounds more accurate than my number. I would like to find a nice, clean '64 or '65 C80 single axle tractor with the specs mentioned above for sale. Thanks Again! JAMES

I had the 1960 L80 Chevy Tractor I owned weighed once. It was equipped with 348 engine, 5 spd. trans, two spd. rear axle, with a 18500lb. rear axle. It also had a saddle tank with sanders. I can't remember exactly what it weighed, but it was somewhere between 6500lbs., & 7500lbs.

Not a real good comparison, but it might help. My '62 GMC 4000, 305 V-6, 4-Speed, Budd Wheels, 16 Ft Wooden Flatbed with a GVW of 19,500 weighed 8000 lbs. My '62 GMC 6500, 478 V-6, 5-Speed, 2-Speed, Air Brakes, Spoke Wheels, 50 Gal Tank, 16 Ft Steel Flatbed Dump with a GVW of 32,000 lbs weighed about 12,500 lbs.
