Can anyone confirm if the motor mounts for an LT1 are the same as a standard 350? The folks at CPP seem to think they are but they could not confirm.

Thanks all.

"The LT engine uses a new engine block, cylinder head, timing cover, water pump, intake manifold and accessory brackets. On the other hand, the engine mounts and bell housing bolt pattern remain the same, so the newer engine can readily be swapped into an older vehicle" - from here

Is there a particular reason you are looking at using the LT1? I have a 96 Z28 with an LT1 and it is THE worst 350 ever made, more specifically because of the optispark distributor. My car has around 140K on it and it is having all sorts of ignition issues, oil leaks etc and the car has been babied and they are mostly highway miles. So if you are still on the fence I would recommend another engine choice if at all possible. There are some really affordable LS1s out there from older trucks, they are a great powerplant and they have coil packs smile just my 2cents worth

The LT1 is a good choice. I have one in my 34 Ford and my 96 Impala has the 350 LT1. It has 265,000 plus miles on it runs great and uses on oil.

Wow...glad to hear that! I hang out at the Z28 bulletin boards frequently and your story seems to be the exception and not the rule. Case in point, seems I will be working on it again this weekend as something is wrong with the wiring harness or something because it just blew another $168 ICM....

28 Chevys & 64C10,

I cannot confirm one way or the other that this LT1 / 4L60E tranny combo I've purchased was a wise decision in any case. I do know the previous owner and understand the modifications done to the wiring harness to simplify it. I wanted "driveability" not major horsepower or old school inefficiencies. I know....there are plenty of options out there, 283, 327, 350 etc. I got a good buy, I knew its history, I like the statistics and it fit well. If this ends up a bad choice, I will mark it up with all the others I've made over the years including buying this "rust bucket" to begin with. HA It's always good to read the feedback, but generally, the pendulum swings pretty hard between old school and newer technology.

Thanks again fellas.....I will keep you posted on how this project progresses and I certainly will "complain" openly if this LT1 comes back to bite me!

The LT1 is a Generation 2 SBC. The only main difference is the reversed cooling. The engine mounting bosses are in the same location.
