What on my engine needs to be replaced, or changed if I have a generator and I want to install an alternator?

alot of the vendors (like lmc truck, classic parts of America and Jim Carters) carry a bracket set for changing out the generator to an alternator. That is about all you need. Aside from some wiring (for 3 wire alternators), there isn't much to change out.

You may need to change the pulley on the alternator to fit your belt width. I found that I could swap the pulleys between my generator and my alternator (Delco 10si) when I was doing my 216. Just make sure the fan doesn't hit.
