Thanks to you guys I know what type of engine I have.Its a 235 block from 1954 with the cast #s of 3835911.The heads are from a 1953 235 with the cast #s of 3701887.I am new to these engines
I don't know much about them.Is it werth rebuilding.Also I didn't mention that the truck it came from was in a garage fire.

Hy air chevy, that engine is a little rare and actually very desirable. It is a full pressure lubed engine, that was produced for two years or less, they have the high mount water pump, and are easily swapped into older vehicles, so yes keep it or sell it.

what type of vehicle did this engine come from.

That block code is supposedly from a Corvette block sold after after 16 October 1953 (used in Corvettes from late 1953 into 1955). The head code is supposedly not for a Corvette head but it is a 1953 code (most likely it has two bolts holding the valve cover to the head).

Is there a serial number (code) pressed into the ledge in the block, just to the rear of where the distributor enters the block? This would help to confirm the original use/year of the block. If this is a Corvette block, it might be of great interest to anyone restoring a 1953-55 Corvette.
