Hook one end to the + side of the coil and the other end to the battery + post. You should also make sure that you have a negative cable from the battery - post to the engine block. This should be enough to see if its going to run. If it starts and you want to shut it off just take the alligator clip off the battery + post. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 1,403 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 1,403 | Yep, and if it doesn't, start checking to see if the points in the distributor "spark" when you turn the engine over by hand(DISCONNECT the BIG COIL WIRE coming out of the top so that it doesn't fire and accidentally start when you are doing this). If it doesn't, replace the points/condenser. If it does, then the coil is bad or the sparkplug wires are bad. This is a new coil; is there any way to test it? 41 1/2 ton with 54 325, 12v upgrade.
