I have a 53 panel w/bucket seats , I took the back and seat to the upholstery shop today for some new brown coverings . The choices were pretty broad ,
My question ..... Is there a correct color or shade ? What about grain ? I am not a "purest " but would like to be close

Also , if you could tell me if I bought a rubber floor mat for a pick up w / floor shift would it fit my one ton panel .

And ...what is a windlace ?
Thanks
Dan

I bought a pair of restored seats for my 1953 panel from a guy who seemed to know his stuff. He told me that the correct colour for the seats was black.

Oldog,

Someone who can measure a Pickup and a Panel will have to give a definitive answer; however, the pickup's floor mat works fine in a Suburban, which has a different passenger seat from a panel. And, the mounting platform for the seats is slightly different in a Suburban compared to a Panel.

My guess is that the platform where the seats mount on a Panel has the same distance from the toeboard as does the Pickup.

Im not sure on the color of the seats for your panel but I would check with SMS auto fabrics for your answer. Tom

AD panel truck bucket seats are that vinyl "Spanish Grain" brown or maroon color. I have a pair from an original truck .

Do all years of Advance-Design Panel trucks have brown upholstery?

1954/55 had brown upholstery in regular production conventional cabs and panels to match the new Pearl Beige standard interior color. The standard Suburban had gray and maroon upholstery, as did the optional deluxe interior on all other 54/55 trucks.

Does anyone have any documentation regarding upholstery color in 47-53 Panel trucks (Restoration Pack Specifications manuals don't seem to have information on interior/upholstery colors)?

I think I have some 1953 Panel seats with some original upholstery (that have been in storage since the mid 70s) - I'll try to check tomorrow.

oldog,

There was a little material left on the top cushion of one seat from a 1953 1/2 ton Panel (in storage since the mid-70's). It has a medium-grained leather "pattern" and is brown with a tinge/shade of maroon.

I do not know anything about the possibility of this being the same color from 47-52? I think the Suburban seat color was maroon in 1953 (and I know it changed to a maroon/gray combination in 1954).

I had a couple of original AD panel truck seats I picked up at a swap meet several years ago..they were covered with heavy dark beige canvas upholstery.

53 panel ,
My seats look different than yours , the frame stays in place and the bottom lifts out of frame. The back has two bolts in lower back of seat frame that holds it in , the seat back then lifts off of two "hooks
