| | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,867 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,867 | My wife got in an accident last night in her '72. Luckily shes fine, a bit sore and a bit shook up over it. I saw her truck today and she really couldnt have done a better job.
She managed to hit right between the frame rails, no damage to the frame or steering components. One of the fenders has a small dent. The grill and hood are 'V'ed into the trucks center, I have spare parts for those. The turn signals and headlights survived, everything being pulled into the grills center. The bumper is bent all over hell and back.
The radiator and transmission cooler need to be replaced and I was wondering who here has had that stuff replaced? Ive looked through a few parts suppliers and Im wondering if it would be better off to go through a local place?
Ill also need some new front end parts, radiator support, grill, etc. Anyone buy that stuff recently? Whats the quality like?

I bought one a few years ago and it is of good quality, and cheaper than mail-order. I would check with a Goodmark or Dynacorn dealer about the radiator support. I bought a grill for my 69 a few years back from either Classic Parts or Brothers. I ran down to our local junk yard today and they have a heck of a lot more trucks down there then they did a few months back. The sad part being there is nothing newer then '73. Last year they crushed almost everything that was on the property when the new owners took charge. Im afraid to buy a used radiator/transmission cooler since I cant properly test it nearby. I also dont know if they have a return policy, forgot to ask that...
I was walking out when I looked into one with the hood up and just so happened to pull an HEI distributor off an old 292. That'll go on the 302 in the COE, I guess it aint all bad!

Parts is parts. They can be replaced. Good women,they're few and far between.
T.C. would probably be your best bet for the parts you need,unless you get lucky at your local Pick-n-Pull.
Or,,try running an ad on Craigslist.

I too am very happy to hear she is okay! Jeff you know I'll do what I can to help you with that truck. Some of the parts you need should be available from LMC Truck. You might check their catalog. Also there is a guy in Poulsbo who frequently advertises '67 to '72 parts on Craigslist. You might find some of the pieces you need there. If he isn't currently offering anything I might be able to find his email address somewhere. And with just a little pushing I'd start parting out my '72. And I think you meant nothing older than '73, rather than nothing newer...
