It would be easier to get yourself the center pumpkin out of a 55 or later truck. It will bolt up to your orig. axel. Then you can go to an open drive line. This is thr route I took on my 46. If you change to an open-drive-line pumpkin, you must either weld the spring perches on your axle, or change toe perches to fixed-type. Torque tubes rely on the hinge at the spring to keep the yube from bending as the suspension moves.
