well i would think you should be able to suck in less than a 1/32 with the manifold bolts ..I am sure that someone with the particulars will respond soon with the tolerance.

the one that's on it had been resurfaced when i rebuilt the engine 25,000 miles ago. the shop i took it to told me they had to take off a lot of material to get it straight. i also read this may have been what caused it to warp again. the one that i measured is a spair set off a 292. i don't know how far out the one that's on there is. i was wondering about making some copper shims out of .025" sheet copper. i was thinking about making one piece that would strech fron 4 inner exaust ports and middle two intakes. has anyone ever tried this or is it crazy.

The 292's are tough on exhaust manifolds. They get them really hot. Often they wont even fit back on once you take it off. I would get a manifold from a 250. They are generally in much better shape & fit the same. The early models had 2 bolt flange & the later ones had 3. You can change the flange on the pipe if nessesary.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.
