Does anyone have any pictures that show how a 350 ci mounts in a 60-66 c10 frame? Does it bolt to the cross member or are the mounts welded to the frame rails? or welded to the top of the cross member?

I've never done this and am worried sick about installing this correctly.....

The reason I ask this is because the 305 that was in this truck when I go it was welded to square stock that was welded to the top of the frame rails. "UGLY!" I've removed the motor and the botched mounting method.

Any help is greatly appreciated as always...

Hy northdm, 61 is not my area of expertize, but a V8 was available in that truck, and most trucks used mounts which bolted to the front crossmember. So a set of brackets from a donor truck with a V8 should give you what you need. Are there any holes in your crossmember?

Hi northdm, most of the 60-62 Chevy V-8 trucks used a "U" shaped motor mount That bolted to the front of the motor and then bolted down to the center Crossmember. i do have that front motor mount in stock.

There no holes in my crossmember and that's what got me confused and asking for pics. I'm not too concerned about getting a 350 in it, I'm just concerned about getting it in correctly...It appears that I will simply need to weld in mounts once I get the "geometry" correct.

Are you referring to the bracket that is mounted to the center / front of the crossmember? The 305 that was in this truck when I got it was not bolted to it. I did not know what it was for.....

northdm, email me at [email protected] and i will send you pictures of the front mount and where it bolts to. on your cross member there are three hole in it and also on the bracket just in front of it, the bracket with the holes was to mount a 6-cyl motor, the three holes in the crossmember are for mounting a V-8

My 62 has the bracket that bolts to the front of the crossmember...even though i have a 235 -6 i believe the v-8s were the same. i swapped my crossmember out to a 71,so i will have to bolt the bracket to it before i put the motor back in...and i have the 71 sidemount brackets if i ever need them

The 350 uses the side mounts that are mounted to the side of the frame and bottom of the cross mount. There is two mounts one for the 60-63 and 64 -66 with the latter being longer on the orginal V8 setup.

Did you gain the disc brakes by the 71 crossmember swap? Was it a great deal of work or did it line up well?

Yes, i got disc brakes. the crossmember bolted right in, just had to drill a couple extra holes in the frame on each side,and i was able to use my 62 steering box and idler. the 71 is 5 lug,so i installed the rear axle,which is a bit more work.
