i am wiring a 52 3800, is the old 6volt headlamp switch tuff enuf for the 12 v anyone with practical advice as this is a strtch for me, going to start in the morn i have a 12 alt hooked up and am trying to head off any problems, thanks trying

Ive changed all 3 of my trucks over to 12v. I left the wiring alone,,just changed the bulbs,generator,voltage reg.,coil,left the starter alone,and put a reducer for the gas gauge, and heater motors.

There should be no problem. When you double the voltage...6 volts to 12 volts, you cut the current in half, so that means your headlights will draw only half of what they did before, or to look at it another way, your headlight switch is now 'super duty'.

Be sure to swap all the lamps to 12 volt versions! Have you read the Tech-Tip on this conversion? Look at the top of the page and you'll see the link, it's worth reading.
