mine does to but when you get a certain peal pressure it quits. some on this site say if it doen't click you might have a problem. i have no real solution. RON

peal pressure?? is that when the tires stop spinnin? grin

what does 'it clicks' mean? once? every 30 seconds? like a sewing machine? perfectly quiet until you hit 40? what would 'click' in the carb? maybe the valves are too tight

Bill

What engine? Hydraulic or mechanical lifters?

It clicks like a sewing machine.just like one! really it dont do it exept when you give it gas at about about 35 and when you let off the accelerator it will stop. the engine is a 1956 straight 6 235 with mechanical lifters.

thanks

a 235 should sound like a quiet, well oiled sewing machine - if it doesn't make any noise at all at idle or lower revs, you've got the valves too tight - you may also not be getting good oil flow up top at higher RPM's - check the book and readjust them [well warmed up] to .006 intake, .016-.018 exhaust

we adjusted the valves this morning at .008 int. and .016 exh. It still does it but readjusting them made it run alot stronger and pick up speed more not mentioning being more quiet.
