I had planned on taking it to the car wash and removing what I could, then spraying Gunk, waiting, and then doing a second wash. I currently have the access panel (around the floor shifter) removed so I could do a pretty good job.
Question is, this will expose the gaskets etc. more, maybe allowing more contaminants. Since I won't be removing the trans any time soon, whould I be better off just leaving it as-is or should I clean it.

#48077 07/22/2005 5:31 PM | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | you might find you need to do more scrapeing than spraying, and makes better use of the Gunk if you scrape the heavy stuff of before you use it - once it's cleaned up you can see if theres any gaskets weeping, but there won't be a problem w/ stuff getting inside - best too if you get that heavy stuff off b4 you get to the carwash, as most take a dim view of plugging their drains w/ 'toxic waste'!
