I need to find a hanging brake pedal set up for my 39 pickup. Any ideas? Ive seen the universal set ups in the mags, but am looking for a set up in the yards. Im sure somebody has done this.

Do you still have the stock stuff around?

The firewall flexs too much to use a uni-mount there

I use and like the stuff from CNC Mfg It's straight forward and strong

All the stock stuff was gone when i got it, I have smoothed the firewall and it is now 2 layers of metal. I kind of anticipated the flex issue so when i did the firewall i removed the ribbs and then layered another peice of sheetmetel over the original. The two pieces are welded together through the holes created by removing the ribbs.

I also welded a 1 1/4 x 1 1/4 tube from side 2 side in order to brace the pedal assemble and mount the steering column to.

The pics are nice you sure have done a lot of work. With all that work you have done on the firewall it looks real nice. I haven’t seen a bolt on frame mount for the pre 47’s. I used a 78 Impala it was simple to remove and install. But you are going to have to drill holes in that clean looking firewall. The firewall flex is an issue. I had to run a brace from the bracket to the dash and that stopped the flex. The master and reservoir is all steel and made for a level installation. The booster and master come out a ways and the lines come out on the outside. Inside the swing pedal wanted to come down the left side of the column. I ended up with a collection of half a dozen swing pedal arms with all kinds of bends and angles. I ended up grafting one on to the original swing arm. The right side of the column can get a little busy with the gas pedal.

Don’t over look a Jeep column. The 88 wrangler (YJ) used a GM column lots of Standards but key in column. Maybe an older CJ may have the key in the dash.

I used a hanging pedal and MC from a 69 Nova on my 49 Suburban. All I needed to do was shorten it slightly to mate up with the dash. I'm on the road but could measure length for you if you are interested.

I'm using a booster/mc/proportioning valve/pedal brace from a late '70's/early '80's S-10 in my 1st series '55. The pedal brace needed a little fitting but when bolted to the underside of the dash and the firewall, rigidity is fine.

stea, i used a clutch/brake pedal assembly out of a 72 chevelle. It fit perfect from the fire wall to the dash which made it nice and rigid, had to lenghten the pedals 5 inches though...dale

Thanks guys, Im still hunting, most yards around here only have newer vehicles, all the good old stuff has been sent to the crusher. Guess I just need to pick one and adapt it. Looks like I should be looking for something out of a 60's-early 70's model.

To make matters worse its turned cold and starting to snow. Dont really like to slop through the yards in this weather. But I got to keep feeding the addiction.
