I am interested in using this intake but not sure as to which carb to run. I would think that a 600 cfm would be about right but was wanting input on what others have or are using.

My GMC 302 has a 400 CFM Carter AFB. Works good.

first of all, what engine is this for?

I have a clifford 4bbl intake with a holley 390cfm carb on my 54 235 thats in my 52 Chevy 3/4 ton pickup. As recommended by clifford I made some changes to the carb. So far so good, have yet to get it on the road but I have no doubts that it will do just fine. Just needs a bit of tuning yet.

Much depends on other engine mods (specifically camshaft). I ran a Carter 400 on a stock 300 CID Ford and it was plenty.

This article may help:

Or possibly this one:

Good carburetion is fuelish hot air
The most expensive carburetor is the wrong one you attempt to modify.

A 235 running @ 5000 RPM at 100% volumetric efficiency needs at least 340cfm. (VE x RPM x CID / 3456)
How fast will your 235 spin?
How efficient is you cylinder head and intake?
How aggressive is the cam?
That's probably why everyone is reporting good results with the 390 - 450 size carbs

Leon

Clifford used to have a CFM rating calculator and I recall that it rated a 261 at about 350 CFM (but my memory might be off).

Clifford's site suggests a minimum of 350 cfm and they sell a 390 cfm Holley for that intake (or, a Weber 38 - 390/400 cfm).
