big_eek I'm still getting my new old fire truck into a driving condition taking care of a bunch of little things that seam to be popping up . Hopefully this week before the snow flys having to shade tree work on this . Well this last Sunday evening the local fire department flew - well more like fast crawled past my place up the hills to a residential fire . I was tempted to chase them but thought better or it .They got there and the pump would not pump so it took some time to get it to work and when they got it to work the trucks engine died and they could not get it started again - no engine no pump no water - BAD ! So they had to wait quite awhile for the next engine to get manned and to them . I saw one of the firemen and he told me that I needed to get my truck up and running so they could always have a quick backup until a Nice Big back up truck could be brought in . He was joking of course But Not really . Now when someone askes me what in the Heck ohwell will I do with a fire truck I can say - I'll have it as a last ditch reserve back up fire truck for the community . Now could you just see my old 1950 fire truck coming to the rescue and holding a fire under control until a Newer one showed up to take over - Now that would be Sweet thumbs_up . John if I get it running today I'll be able to get it to a better photo site and get those picks you want . ED H DaOzFireman?

My '53 Fire truck was in service up to the week before I pick-ed it up last January. The chief told me when I bought it that the joke was that it was maybe the slowest truck around but was always the most dependable truck. It never failed to do the job in its 50+ years of service.

My 51 still flows water and pumps very well but here in the "big city", the boys would have a cow if I pulled up to a real fire of any kind!

Just wanted to say that while it would be a gas to assist the local fire dept. I would never show up without a request. It's a small town but there are still regulations the FD has to follow and not being a trained firefighter I could never be aloud to do anything more than let them use my equipment while I watched ( that would free me up to get photos of the truck in action anyways). Same with helping the RFD's controling range fires that have gotten out of hand . Helping my rancher freinds control their spring range burns is one thing but Having spent 2 months in a burn ward many years ago I have the upmost respect for fire and would never get in the way of the professionals trying to control one . But it still would be a interesting experiance . ED H

good on ya hoov,

we have several water tank trucks privately owned that are registered w/ all our FD as well as CDF and calfire as back~up supply rigs here in our community.

after seeing and then working 2 months in the san diego foothills area last year after their massive fires, a local fire truck would have come in very handy and extremely helpful. people would have paid big $$$$$$ for one. because of that I have added more roof-top big sprinklers to our house.

thumbs_up so keep up the good work. dance that's a good thing
