There is a tool to grab the teeth of the flywheel & turn it but without it you can pry it with a large screwdriver against the edge of the bellhouseing. Often those old engines you can grab it with your hands & turn it. Take the spark plugs out if nessesary. If the engine is locked up you will have to drop thr oil pan & free up the rod or brg that is holding it. I saw one at vthe junk yard they took a chop saw to the crankshaft.

Mine spun via the fan, assuming your pulleys and belt are still in place.

Some GMC's have a bolt on the harmonic balancer, you could use that. If you don't have that, and you don't have the fan hooked up, you can wrap an old belt around the balancer, pinch it tight with a pair of vise grips, and use it as a strap wrench. If you pull the spark plugs it should be easy to turn.

Assuming the engineis not locked up, it should turn over easier after you take out the spark plugs, cause there is compression.

Still not able to turn flywheel...? Took spark plugs out, used a belt wrench on harmonic balancer, and even put starter back on with battery to try to turn. No luck. Hard to believe engine would be stuck in just the few weeks out of the truck. Will try to drop oil pan ond look in there. Anyone have the same problem and have any ideals?

If it's not stuck use a screwdriver to move the flywheel a tooth at a time on the ring gear. Pull plugs, squirt some oil in the cyls, should turn.

If it had been turning you probably have some rust or corrosion on a cyl. wall. Pour some trans. fluid in each cyl & let it set over night. That will probably free it up.

Try turning the other way, and rock it back and forth until it frees up. You probably have a small amout of rust @ the top of one of the cyl.s
