has anyone seen or know where to obtain the simple secondary safety hood latch spring? Not the main pop-up hood spring but the one that is located within the safety hood latch to keep it in a latched position.

You can probably get one that will work at ACE Hardware. They have a bunch of springs, and I have had good luck there. I know that it is not original, but your creative knowledge should be able to make it work.
