It will be a ways away, because I just started the restoration. But I just noticed that the serial number plate is missing. The truck used to be parents truck, but they are transfering the title to me. To get it registered the DMV has to verify that the title matches the serial number on the truck (which is not there) In the Gallery[yrl=http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=43825635&albumId=1717519]More pictures in MySpace[/url]

Some older titles used the engine number as a means of identification, so it's possible that's what the ID number on the title refers to. If the engine hasn't been swapped out since the truck was new, try looking on the machined pad near the distributor on a 6-cylinder truck, or on the engine block ahead of the passenger's side cylinder on a V-8. It is located on a raised boss behind the distributor. If the numbers don't match, the engine has been changed or the serial number (on the missing data plate) was used. If the later is the case you'll need to contact your state DMV for advise on how to rectify the problem.
