For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2007 Posts: 35 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: May 2007 Posts: 35 | I am looking for info. on 1932-40 Chevy pickup and car axles. I'm sure there is a Chevy book that shows measurements and year change. I know some axles have a bend in the middle, some have a hole by the U-bolts for a shock and some are narrower. I am now starting to drop the earlier axle and you guys on the Stove Bolt have been great help. I still need to find the info on the 1932-36 axles now. I got a dropped axle from you on ebay to put in my 1940 gmc. The advantage for me was the larger king pins, and the ability to bolt on the cpp disc brake kit.
I haven't mounted it in the chassis yet, but I am absolutely certain I won't have any issues with it. The axle looks great.
Keep up the good work. John | | | | | Joined: May 2007 Posts: 35 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: May 2007 Posts: 35 | Thanks I have the info on the 41-54 axles. There are some differences on the 41-54. Bigger kigpins (8.66 dia.) the 41-47 does not have a relief cut to get a socket on the U-bolt nuts but are the same as the 48-54 other then that . I drop axles and have customers wanting them to fit a 30's car. When I use the 41-54 I have to narrow them sometimes during the drop to make them the right width as the original for some early chevys. What I am needing is the info on changes for each year. That way if a guy wants a original 32 axle just like in his car I give him the right axle. I have a guy in New Zealand that wants a original 32 axle dropped. I'm not sure what that exact year looks like. I know one time I had a chevy axle that was bent back in the center like to clear a oil pan. Not for sure what year it was. I also know some years have a extra hole in the spring pad for the shock to mount to and some don't. I do want to Thank everyone for there help. It does help Thanks SID | | | | | Joined: Nov 2000 Posts: 171 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2000 Posts: 171 | The 30-33 have the extra hole for the shock mount ,I don't know what axle had the bend in the middle,BILL | | |
