The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop Exhaust Cost?

So, I've been looking around town for some exhaust pipes for my truck. Its a 1950 216 One Ton. The consensus around here is about $500, for duals, 1 3\4" aluminized tubes, I supply glass packs and headers. I am a little shocked. Maybe I'm dreaming, but I thought it'd cost alot less than that. I'm still shopping around mind you. What are you guys/gals paying for your pipes?

Try Waldrons Exhaust. I bought a dual set-up for my 48 ford from them including glass paks in stainless for aroung $500.

Ive been paying about $300 including the glasspacks.

I paid about $270 for the custom pipes(2) and single muffler. The chrome tips were extra. $500 is way too much.

You could buy 2 systems ion steel from the The Filling Station for that or SS for a hundred more. They are in the links here and located in Lebanon, OR.

A single or dual exhaust system from the Filling station? What are the part #s/codes you found?

Yeah, I have to say, the price does make me sad. The last place I was at, I even had them put the truck on the hoist and measure it. $550. I am still in mourning over the price, so much so that I might have to bust out the old black arm band. Actually, I am thinking I'll just buy a cheapo pipe bender for a $199. And just use steel tubing. I know, I know, corrosion. But where I live, we don't salt the roads, and I'm a 45 minute truck drive from nearly everywhere. Plus, tubing is cheap. But frankly, I'd rather just have it done for a reasonable price!

That's how I did mine.

I could not find anyone close by to make the 4" mandrel bent exhaust I wanted, so I too pieced it together with single bends.
Donaldson has a good selection of the bigger sizes, I picked a bunch off the shelf at my favorite big truck parts place. Took them home, used what I could, returned what I could not, and ordered the ones I needed. Take them home for another try, now I only need to order one more bend... It's time consuming, but you can make a nice exhaust from pieces parts.
Here is a picture of the almost finished first pipe, I'll finish it and have it ceramic coated so it'll last a good long time, and reduce the radiated heat on the floor and other parts.

Contact John Hack at Auto-Jet. Tell him I sent you. Not sure of his prices for the dual, however he can make anything with a variety of diameters up to 6" in Aluminized and 4" in stainless

Thanks for that link, they are one or the few folks that have a variety of bend radius's in stainless steel for the same diameter pipe.
