Had some help from a good friend and changed my headliner. Now it matches the seat material and has the same “stitch” design as the them as well.

It wasn’t nearly as hard as I thought and only cost about $60.00. We used 3/16” plywood, dense foam, some 3M 08088 glue and fabric.

I shoved a piece of cardboard in the slot, drew a line on it around the hole and then cut it for a template to cut the plywood. When you have the plywood base right, you spray glue on the wood and the foam separately and let them set for about 5 to 8 minutes – once you touch them together, they are stuck so make sure you place them where they need to be.

The next step is to cut the lines in the foam. Using a straight edge, draw the lines in the foam. Then move the straight edge about 1/16” to 1/8” past each side of your line and cut a “V” in the foam down to the wood and peel the pieces out.

Now you lay the fabric over the foam. Pull ½ of it back and spray both the foam and fabric with glue. After it sets for the 5 to 8 minutes, ease the fabric over to the first cut line. When you hit it, we used a wooden dowel to push the fabric into the V, smooth it on to the next V and repeat. When that’s done, fold the other ½ back, spray glue, wait, and repeat.

That’s the cliff notes for doing this job. It may not be perfect, but I’m very happy with it – especially for a first time.

That looks great, vette. That molding you have on there looks better than a rubber seal. What is that?

It's a press/tap on trim. It has little metal strips inside to provide a good grip and you can cut it to make a good seam. I bought it from a local upholsterer but I think it's available in a lot of other places.

I've used versions of it in the trailer industry as well. They call it fender trim.

Try this Cletis, Canadian company and probably only wholesale but they may have stocking dealers in the states, let us know if you find any dealers.

I have to test mine a little, but there's a possibility that I'll need a lip to hold the headliner better. If so, I'll check them out and let you know.

I stated here that maybe you don't want others to see your pictures.. it's about sharing.

all i wanted to do was look at more pictures of what avette4me might have on his photobucket shots. I have a shared photobucket ( http://s67.photobucket.com/albums/h298/1951otter/ ) and avette4me only had links to three of his shots. i'm about to do my interior and just wanted to see what other nice work was done and maybe get some ideas B4 my big indevor. photobucket allows other none password folks to see photos in your photobucket pictures, but the site owner, (in this case avette4me) has to set it up to allow for public viewing. .............. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I went back and looked for a setting to make my truck and vette stuff public, but can't find it for single albums. Maybe you can help with that - if so, I'd sincerely appreciate it. There might accidently be some pics that could help someone.

Otherwise, I keep it private only because I store a lot of family stuff (home, kids, grandkids, etc.) there and really don't want some internet perv jacking with it.
