Please give me some guidance and tell what to do. If you have pictures of this job being done on a 47-53 truck or pictures of the completed job, I would really appreciate it. Power door locks are a bit more difficult and I've not seen it done.
The problem is that there are two different lock controls, and its difficult to power both of them.
One way to approach it might be to use modern latches.

It does involve a fair bit of 'surgery' to your doors though. I haven't heard of anyone using the original door locks. Someone may chime in and prove me wrong though! These guys have pretty much everything you will need for the conversion, but at a price! I hope this helps Jock 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr. I've seen a first series 55 with power door locks but it was years ago. | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,440 Extreme Gabster | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,440 | The problem is that there are two different lock controls, and its difficult to power both of them. No need to power both of them, just the inner one. (This is about the '51 and later locks.) The key lock just locks the push button. With the inside lock engaged the outside button can't be pushed anyway. This thread should be in "Doors" so I'm moving it. | | |
