I've got a '62 Dubl-duti and I'd like to know what frame it's sitting on. It's the light solid axle up front (6 leaf) with a swaybar and bigger 8 leaf setup in the rear (also with a sway bar). the rear end is a 10bolt and most likely a 5:14 gearing. The plan is to ditch the sm420 for a t-5 (out of my s-10 which needs a v-8 anyway). I'll need a new rear end but unsure of what width to look for in the rear and any suggestions on gearing would be GREAT. There's a guy on craislist that has an '84 Camaro with 3.73 gearing for cheap but I don't know what I'm looking for and don't wanna go buying stuff I don't need.

I would like to get my driveline setup and good to go before I proceed with the larger plans. I would like the body line of this step truck to be on the ground. Not sure it's possible with the factory front end. I would like to know if my frame is the same as a 1/2 or 3/4 ton just like the c10's etc. what would it take to get a different crossmember on this thing therefore achieving IFS? I hear the frame is shorter in height than later years as well making it even tougher to adapt.

any info would be great.

Also.. I'm ashamed but I have to throw in a noob question too (sorry). I flushed and drained the crankcase but wasn't sure what to fill it back up with. I put 5w30 in there hoping it was okay seeing as I live in wisconsin. this hardly gets driven so it wouldn't go to far with that oil in it I just don't want something to go wrong with the fairly strong 235 that's in it. thanks ahead of time!

Use the same oil you would use in your other vehicles.
