Can anybody else confirm the information contained in the topic "Intakes" in this forum that the Edmunds water heater manifold will not work on a truck with 3 speed on the column because the shifter linkage interferes with the rear water exit on the manifold. The truck refered to is a 1950. Does the task force series have the same problem?
Come on you guys that are running the Edmunds - let me know before I polish my Edmunds and rebuild the Carter's !!

This is a question about a fit in a Chevy Truck - Our Trucks...This is susposed to be where questions like this are answered by people who have had experience with what we are asking..at least it used to be. Are we so busy hi-jacking threads and turning the subject to what we watched on TV last night or where we're going on vacation next week that we don't have time to answer truck questions anymore and begin to refer real mechanical questions to another board? My last three questions have had less than 6 responses total and half of them we're answered "well I don't know but...." Maybe all the guys and gals that used to be here and helped share the knowledge have quietly left seeing the content of this board changing. Here's a recent post reply to a question about a Fenton intake:

I was kinda wanting to sleep her first but she ain't no virgin anyhow. Under these unfortunate circumstances it wouldn't hurt for you to go next if you'll promise to clean her up before sending her home.

4d9r....I had this problem with an Offy and the clearance problem. How I overcame it... simply cut the shift fingers apart and removed about 1/4" and welded them back together. Easily done. It didn't even change the shift lever positions on the tree enough for anyone to notice. If your clearance with the Edmunds isn't too much this is a way to deal with it. Clearing by 1/8" is as good as a mile. Frankly, there are so few Edmunds and others still running that we must share our experiences with similar, though different, brands or none of us would get anywhere. So please don't get upset because I do not have an Edmunds.

OK....is this what you wanted to know? My only other advice is to lighten up a little and remember that 95% of us really are interested in helping each other and getting help when we need it. Hope this helps you.

4d9r- Sorry if we get off topic for you too much. Just trying to have fun with old trucks here, like this site used to be about 5-10 years ago. Yes, I talk about upcoming swap meets too much. I haven't had a "vacation" since I was alittle kid, my wife and I plan all our trips around swap meets all over the country so we can buy more truck parts and speed eqiupment and meet others with the same interests. Sorry if this sounds like fun to you. I won't annoy you anymore on here.

4d9r -

Let's face it; this is a hobby and not a business for 999 out of 1000 of us. Who besides you don't want to share their hobby and have a laugh or 2 along the way? I'll never meet many folks on this board but I consider many of them a friend. Friends talk.

In the thread you quoted I had an excellent interchange with Barry and 53moneypit, both on the board and in private emails. Cosmo is a good guy for replying, I hope he was not offended but I doubt he was.

I like humor in my life and I love old trucks too. When I see something that does not interest me I ignore it and mind my own business. You are acting like someone here owes you something and that your problem is all that is important. I come here hoping for help and appreciating it greatly when I get it, but I know in advance I may not even get a reply, and I learned long ago not to believe everything I read. If you have no sense of humor and don't respond to or understand the romanticism of the old trucks like the vast majority of us do, then why don't you just go away?

The light hearted good humor mixed with technical information is what makes this board attractive.

Speaking of a sense of humor, when you are as feeble minded as I am becoming it is critical to laugh at yourself or else I would just shoot myself...heck, I can't even tell intake from exhaust manifold anymore.

Duh...

ahh hell, come on back 4d9r, we're not mad at you just had to slap you around a little.

OK, I got your feelings and it appears I'm in the minority. I won't bother anybody again and I'll mind my own business. Have fun.

4d9r - So maybe you won't be reading these posts anymore, but if you do, my suggestion would be to mock it up before you polish everything. This way you can do the necessary fabrication that it will take to get it to fit. It may be extra work, but this is how most experienced mechanics learn how to do what they do. That being said, I have to agree with everyone else here that you need to lighten up a bit and be a bit more appreciative of the help those here can give. I have had nothing but great experiences from these guys and have been able to finish many of my projects correctly and righteously, thanks to the information that they provide at no cost.

I already told you that a friend I sold an Edmunds to had a problem with the shift levers hitting the rear water outlet on the intake. Hence he deemed it not usable! That should be enough of a waring for you to consider another posiblility for an intake! Did you listen?
N -o - o - o, you had to ask EVERYBODY else!
Whatza matter - my word not good enough for ya?

4d9r, how about a search of the archives, smart guy, you must modify the linkage as stated above or it won't work. Maybe your questions are ignored because of your attitude and the fact that you don't search the archives before asking a question.

And don't forget to hide the fact that you are still using the board in your profile preferences.
