I helped my father-in-law pull the transmission out of his 67 chevy yesterday. The input shaft was twisted apart. The transmission was rebuilt about 500 miles before. Where could he find a new input shaft? Is this still being produced? thanks

It would be a lot simpler to find a complete transmission, and probably much less expensive. Hard parts for manual trannies get pricey in a hurry, if the're available at all. Does yours have the synchronized 1st. gear, or the crash-box 1st.? I've got a few bits & pieces for a Saginaw synchronized trans, including an input shaft, and a complete older 3-speed.

It's non-synchro, do you have a synchronized 3 speed that would bolt up? what would be the best route from here? is therre an overdive drive transmission that would bolt right up?

You can get replacement parts for the early 3 speeds from Anaheim Gear in Anaheim, CA. But as previously mentioned you could probably find another used trans for what the cost of that part is. Your 67 probably has the short tail shaft (overall length of the case is about 17"). The full syncro Saganaw transmissions and the OD units are about 22". They will bolt in but you will need to shorten the driveshaft.
