I found a parts 56 or 57 LCF and am headed out to grab the list of parts I need. Anyone need parts for these as I am tempted to grab the entire truck before it heads to the scrapper but I don't have anywhere to store it. I would need to cut up whats not needed in a hurry and get rid of it. I have not seen the truck in person but it looks pretty solid and straight and has 6 lug 22.5 budd wheels on it.

You might want to save those wheels. If space is an issue, remove the front clip, as a unit, & get both doors, & you'll probably have , most of what you'd need, in the future. What would be left, of the cab, wouldn't yield much more than a pickup cab would.

Yeah, we have several guys on here with LCFs who would probably be interested in stuff from that truck. And like Spanky says, the wheels could be very desireable (see Grigg's tech tip on wheels so you know what to look for). If they are the 10-lug 22.5 single piece rims, then I'd be very interested in them (if you or Spanky didn't want them)

I'll check the wheels but I am pretty sure they are 6 lug's. If not I'll give you first crack at them.

Do the dash's come out as an assembly in these or just pieces?

Do like I do. Buy the truck, & worry about what the wife says later. I do it all the time. She's used to it by now.

That may be possible in the future but this will be 3 in a month.

If the curved inner step area is rust free I'm interested in both sides for patch panels. They are called fender extensions, just below the door. Some one on this site was looking for the hood emblem not to long ago...don't remember who.

I'm after the hoold emblem and that is the reason I am going after the truck, hood emblem, latches, chrome, etc. I'll check the fender extensions. The wheels are 6 bolt budd wheels not 10 bolt. I just picked up a set so I am going to pass on them unless i buy the entire truck. The truck is a winch truck with ginny poles, etc, possibly an old wrecker i suspect.

Update. Truck is rough but there is still a set of 6 lug budd wheels, 22.5" tubeless. The rest of the truck has extra holes where they should not be and rust in the critical areas. Almost took home the Tulsa winch with PTO/ shaft but I pulled the lower drain plug and got water out so I passed.

Inner fenders were in nice shape but too much of a pain to pull. Exterior metal was rough.

I was able to save 1 hood latch, chrome from the hood emblem, side v-8 badges, throttle linkage, brake switch, and horn.

Are the old winches rebuildable or should I pass. I suspect with pto and shaft I would have 100 - 150 in the winch.

I hate to ask on a Chevy site, but are the wheels interchangable with a ~74 Ford F600?

I picked up 4 tubeless tires but now need some wheels (6 hole Budds) to switch to tubeless on the Ford.

New wheels are $228 each + shipping.

Alan, good news, I think so. Wheels I think are 6" wide, 22.5 tubeless, 6 on 8 3/4 bolt pattern. Bad news, wheels are 2 hrs south of Kansas City so probably 10 hours or so from you.

You'd have to check the measurements to be sure, but I think they would fit your truck. The 6-lug tubless wheels I'm running on my '65 GMC firetruck came off a '70's F600 (ex U-Haul truck).

If trying to use 6" wide 22.5" wheels the books don't want you to put 9R22.5 tires on them (closest readily available and suitable size), they really need 6.75" wide rims, or even 7.5" rims.
That said, I have 9r22.5 tires on my 6" wide rims, they don't rub each other on the rear duals, they mounted fine, and look good.
However, I don't expect to load them to the max, or even half the weight they are designed to carry, so I expect they will be fine, but I'll keep an eye on them.

Grigg you bring up good points - for those considering 22.5 tires here is what i am running up against.

22.5 tubeless wheels run about 300 per 6 in the Kansas City area, then they need the old tires taken off, 10 per tire, then the old tire disposed of, 7 per tire, then sand blasted and powder coated, found a place for 23 per wheel but that was the exception, most were 50 to 65.

9r-22.5 tires are the only non-obsolete tires that show as being able to be mounted on a 22.5 rim. In the Michelin truck tire book the 9r is measured on a 6" rim.

9r tires are available but Expensive. $265 was the cheapest I was quoted for a new tire. I found 2 General take off's for steer tires at 180 each and will most likely be running caps on the rear.

Used 9r tires are not real common because many old farm trucks still use them. If you do find them used, prices have been pretty reasonable - 50 - 100 per tire usually still on a rim. Finding 6 that match, good luck.

I would have been money ahead finding the useable split rim 20's with lock rings and running them.

I did not buy it but I saw it on craigslist and for 900 it would be hard to go wrong. It is still availabe as far as I know.
