i need a new water pump on my 261 in my c60. of course parts stores don't list 261s because they were only in big trucks. is the 235 pump identical?

As can be seen from the Master Parts Manual , a 235 pump should fit a 261 from the same year etc. Is your 261 the early (54-55 first) or late version? I have used water pumps from 216s and 235s on 261s, all depending upon the pulley sizes desired, etc.

The 261 water pump has a extra water outlet next to the heater outlet. This is a thermostat bypass that goes up to the thermostat housing . This lets water flow through the block when the thermostat is closed to stop hot spots in the engine.

I've gotten water pumps labeled for 235's that were drilled and tapped for the extra outlet. You can add an outlet if you need to, its just a 1/2" NPT pipe thread.
