The last one I rebuild I used Hastings Cast Iron rings and Celvite rod, main and Federal- Mogal cam bearings they lasted 18 years in my 261 cu. driven everyday to work with regular oil changes and replacement filters. Now the last couple of years I had to step up the grade of oil but still had reasonably good preasure for being wore out. 62Blue Don

Some of the later rings are hard to seat. If you are not out of high performance, why change? | | | | | Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 2,031 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 2,031 | as did I hastings http://www.hastingsmfg.com/and clevite Celvite rods & mains

I pulled down the 261 the other day and had 4thousands taper in the back cyclinder. Looks like I can clean her up and go again with a new cam and rings, bearings etc. 62Blue Don
