To those that have bought and installed them, what are your opinions on the cost vs benefit. It looks like Heidts cost a pretty penny, is it worth the extra cash??? | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 Master Gabster | | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 | Yep!! You get what you pay for, especially in the Bolt Business. A quality IFS is like your foundation on your home. You want it to be sturdy and well positioned. I understand TCI is a good IFS and I'm sure there are others. I choose Heidts for the same reason I buy clothes at Brooks Brothers; I don't know fashion so in order not to look like a circus clown I buy from a source where all products are in good taste. Not having bought and installed an IFS before I just bought from the guys with the highest price. Life's a gamble, play the odds...

Im with Big Chevy 3600, I looked all over and did a lot of research before buying my Heidts IFS. BUT Ive also heard That TCI makes a nice setup too. Good Luck with you choice Some people are like Slinkies, Their not really good for nothing... But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs. 1951 3100 350 TBI Gallery Toddzilla... Also Heidts is supposed to be quality stuff. One thing I liked about TCI,is that if I had a problem I could Email them and they would Email me an answer right away. And the only problem I had was with the power steering, and using a GM pump to feed a TBird rack. Had to put a pressure reducer valve in the pump.TCI uses or did use the TBird power rack which takes about 800 psi.The GM pumps put out about 1200 to 1300 PSI,which will blow the seals out..But a little reduction valve in the output side of the pump cured that problem.I would definitly reccomend going with power steering,it makes these old trucks drive awesome. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 136 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 136 | I used the No Limit Engineering setup for my 55 2nd. I just finished installing it and do not have it one the road yet but it appears to be well designed and the kit was complete. I was impressed with the quality of the parts and the company's response to my questions.
I have some pics on my link below if you are interested. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 1,859 Grumpy old guy playing with trucks, cars, and boats | | Grumpy old guy playing with trucks, cars, and boats Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 1,859 | I just added up all the parts that I would recommend for my front end based on brand new components. I could put together a complete kit (less weld wire and paint) for about $3k I am more than willing to point people to the same parts sources that I use to get your total cost to about $2k.
