Looking to put gas tank in bed of my 41 1/2.Looks like the 69 nova, with the long filler tub, will fit beetween the rails. My question is should i remove the rear frame rail so it could fit alot nicer? how much support, will i lose.Looking for any help. Thanks in advance.

This might not be the correct answer, but I dodn't think you want to remove any cross bracing on those frames. The frames are real flexible as it is and have a tendency to warp and twist

I am using a tank from summit. This tank will fit between the rear rails, behind the rear cross member. You can cut a hole in the middle plank and have access to the filler.

No better smell than that of fresh paint. I've been building and painting cars/trucks for 47 years. Not gonna stop now.

You can move the cross member. Probably should not REmove it!

I moved the crossmember in mine to give me some additional room for my tank. So far so good. I also agree with Big Chev, don't REMOVE it.

Have you looked at the following gas tanks as an option? I have seen nice installs and they would require no removal of crossmember (on my 46).
