I was reviewing the bedsides with the body guy and he showed me the holes on the rear stake pockets where the tail lights were mounted. He asked if I wanted these holes welded up. The holes are located about 1/2 way up the stake pocket.
It suddenly occured to me that I've never really noticed how the tail lights were originally mounted on a '50. I believe there was only 1 tail light. Does anyone have any advice on where the best place is to mount tail lights? I'm mounting lights on both sides.
I looked in the gallery and found several variations. Any advice or pics would be greatly appreciated!

If you want two brakelights and turnsignals this is the "factory" look. There are lots of aftermarket brackets available from places like Jim Carter catalog page 66/67 Items number LGL204L and LGL204R. I have the tail lights ready to mount when the bed gets painted. The truck came with 2 lights mounted about 3/4 of the way up from the bottom of the bed, a bit too high for me. These look like they were added sometime later in the life of the truck. The lights were mounted on the side of the stake pocket facing the front of the truck and I knew this was not correct.

Those little tail lights are so small and when they are mounted down low when most drives are conditioned to look for bigger and higher positioned lights.
