Met this guy the other day...he had a 64 C10 like mine. Except he put 72 running gear in his. Power steering...the whole front end...power disc brakes...and a 283 v8. He saided everything just bolts on...made it sound simple. He also said except he had to fiddle with the idler arm...that he had to put it on the other side???

If i were to do this to mine with a 292 six and drum brakes all the way round...what is envolved?...What year trucks would interchange? What's the best way to get parts...buy a complete wrecked 72 i assume???

sr88, check the post I made on 12-14-'01:

Painless and cheap front discs for \'60?-\'66

You'll find all you want. I don't know about the '72 front end, but I do know the front from '73 to '87 will bolt right in. On my '64, I opted to use just the spindles, bc the 73-87 frame is thicker, and the motor mounts would stick up almost 2" higher than they need to. I got the l&r spindles from a junkyard for $70. The '72 axles themselves will slide right into your orig '64 housing, and then you'll have 5 lugs all around.

Hope I helped!

Frames from 63 to 72 were all the same. 73-87 frames were somewhat different, but components are usable on the earlier frame. If you use the 72 stuff, it should all bolt up.

I helped a guy here in town swap the upper and lower control arm assemblies out to the hubs and rotors. He took the donor parts off a 71 chevy1/2 ton 5-lug.His ride is a 63 suburban. He did have to do something to the idler arm.On the rear end swap(same vehicles)he had to change the panhard-bar because he was lowering the whole ride.
