| | | | Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 257 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 257 | I have an EZ Wiring 12-circuit kit in my '50 3100 which is about 85% installed. I have finished hooking up the tail lights and wanted to test them last night, so I pulled the fuses for all the other circuits and plugged the battery in.
POP.
The stop light circuit popped. The tail lights work fine but the stop lights are obviously shorted somewhere.
The kit has the rear turn signals running to the steering column connection, a white "Brake SW" wire running from the brake switch to the steering column and a red "Brake Pwr" wire running from the fuse to the steering column. I don't have a fancy steering column with all these connections, so I just jumpered the brake pwr to the brake switch, ran that to one side of the brake switch and ran the two wires for the turn signals to the other side of the brake switch.
Anyone see what I'm doing wrong? I could send a jpg picture of my wiring diagram if that would help.

What light configuration do you have on the rear. Separate taillight and brake light assemblies or dual lamps in a single housing.

I have also pulled the brake switch off the trucka and tested that. That seems to be working okay, so I will reinstall that and connect only the hot side of the switch. If the fuse doesn't blow, I'm assuming there is a short somewhere downstream in my wiring. I'll keep searching. | | |
