Anybody know where the decal was placed originally on the heater that indicated the defrost on off status??? Mine is a 47 and has a cable control that operates from pull knob on left of steering column. Got the decal and want to place it as original and I cant seem to find a picture. Appreciate it.

mazzer,

You you have a set of decals like this one from Classic Parts of America ?

If so, it has decals for both the recirculating (same from 47-55) and fresh air heaters from 47-52 and 53-55.

If you have a cable control on a 1947 heater, there is only one decal, "DEFROSTER", which, I presume, goes on the dash above or below the knob for the defroster cable.

I'll look at some sales brochures to see if there are any photos.

Here is a link to a restored 53/54 Heater, You can see the placement on the decals.

One of the photos shows a decal on the bracket that mounts to the dash, this is for Fresh Air vs. Recirculating Air. It does a good job of showing how it is located on that bracket.

Looking at the decal sheet in Tim's link the decal that says "DEFROSTER" may in fact go on the bracket that fastens to the dash in the same manner the same way.

I am sure Tim is correct in stating that no decal would be placed on the heater itself for the defroster.

The pictures are screen shots from a PDF file I have that was sent to me by a guy who restores the heaters. I can send anyone who wants it the PDF file, send me a message.

Link to Pictures of heater.

Mike

I'm with Tim on this one I do not think a 1947-1952 would have a decal on the heater for the defroster when it was controled by a cable. Some things just are not marked corect. Good thing you asked.
