I have a 2 ton hoist that manages the engine no problem; now with the head off it will be even better and more stable -- if any of you have used a hoist in this way, did you use a specific grade of bolt for mounting? I am going to make the wooden stand this weekend too, but I am afraid that the engine is locked to a point where I might have to work from the bottom up -- ideas?? | | | | | Joined: Jul 2007 Posts: 224 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2007 Posts: 224 | you will need an engine stand to work on that engine it will let you flip from the top side to the bottom to do the rebuild once
you have the engine back together complete with crank and oil pan
you will need to build the little wooden stand that is shown in the tech tips. this will allow you to put the bell housing clutch

I did use rubberized 3" dolly wheels because I have used 2" wheels before and they just seem to hang up more on the poor garage floor I have. It really is an inexpensive short time project that is valuable in the garage.

| | | | | Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 1,067 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 1,067 | Yeah I did. I pulled my 235 out with a Cherry picker. But I removed the radiator and disassembled the front grill and radiator support of the truck first and then came out through there.
Worked great and looks to be about the easiest way to do that.

Worked great but I did as Hot Rod Dad did and remover everything off the front end.
