I need a longer than stock choke cable in my '49 with an inline 250 but I want to keep the original knob in the cab. How do I go about doing this? The old cable is in bad shape anyway and doesn't quite reach. THanks for the help!

I see you're in Kerrville. I'm in Fredericksburg. I'm not sure if anyone makes a reproduction choke cable. If not, every 47.2 to 55.1 had one. There should be one around.

yers look like this? American Classic has new, usually they're a bit longer than needed and you cut to length, should do for ya, give'em a call and ask the length

Take your choke cable assembly and clip the cable off where it joins the shaft. Put the knob/shaft in a metal lathe and drill a hole in the end of the shaft. Kept a length of cable with the coaxial shield (a manual choke kit would have it) Braze your wire in the hole and cut off the length as needed.
It works, I've done it.

Hey Lazy J, There are so many of us around here that I don't know where they all work. And everyone with that name in the world is kin. I'm the one that has the Fina stations and have the trucks that say Crenwelge Oil Co., Inc.

If you drive the white cabover truck, I've probably seen you around. I drive a dump truck so I'm always over in your area.

Thanks for the great tip "olblu49"!

Ours are all International conventionals. We pull a couple of end dumps and a bunch of Cornhusker grain trailers that have been converted to haul gypsum and we haul sacked feed in dry vans. The old white cab over International that you are probably referring to is one I sold about 10 years ago. In the 80's had a dozen of them. I think the one around town may be the last survivor. I don't drive much any more. Too much to do in the office. I bought my first truck tractor in 1964 and the new has kind of worn off of driving.
