Kinda been looking around on here for a couple weeks before I bought my truck and joined here. I now am the proud owner of a baby blue 1964 C10 Stepside shortbox, and since I've owned it (less than a week) I've found several things on it that have me trying to find a place to start. It's in need of a frame-off, but it's not too awful bad, I don't think. Frame needs a little help, it tends to dogtrack a little to the right, but it drives straight and easy. Disc brakes already on the front, but they're soft, rear fuel tank (only 12 gallon), and a tilt column from a 70's truck. I'd say she's about 90% solid, maybe better, but she's far from ready for paint, if ya know what I mean :P

This has been a dream of mine for ever since I can remember, and the wife's even seeming to be happy for me about it. My background is more construction/medical (Army medicine), but I've been a tinkerer and hobby rebuilder on a lot of friends' projects over the years. I live on Fort Riley in post housing, have a garage, but it's small :[ so I have to make do. On the bright side, we do have the hobby shop on post for the bigger jobs, but I'm going to try to do as much as I can at home.
I'm an opinionated SOB, but I'm not afraid to listen to those who know more than I do. I also have a sense of humor, but people tell me it's a little cynical and a touch dry grin
Anyways, it's nice to have a home site to come get all this nice info, and I've already come up with a few questions to post.

Thanks all. I'm going to try to make it, but I'm not sure if we'll bring the truck. 11mpg, 350 backed by a powerglide kinda scares me still... I need to check it over some more before I trust it to go that far. I've been looking at the reunion posts, and I'll definitely come say hi if we can make it. I'll post pics as soon as I get them on my computer.

wave Welcome to stovebolt from one a little bit down the road from you . I hope you can make the Reunion - I'll be taking my '52 1 1/2 ton on it's maiden flight so I know that feeling of " I sure hope things go OK " headscratch. Don't forget the OZGABfest in Wamego - Oct.4th & 5th . If you can bring the truck great if not come anyway and hang with other bolters . thumbs_up Ed

Thanks, Ed. I'll try to mark that Wamego one on my calendar. What's the OZGABfest, anyways?
God's country, FT Hood, huh, Cliff? I hear a lot of good stuff about there, but I've only passed thru going to and from Fort Sam in San Antonio, but it sounds great.
