Help needed. I'm working on a 64 C-10 Stepside, it came with no engine, tranny or driveshaft. I rescued a good drivline out of a 63 C-10 but the mounting for the center carrier bearing is different from the mounting holes/position on the 64. If I buy a new carrier bearing for the 64, will the 63 driveshaft fit in the new carrier bearing? Appreciate any help.

Check out Rockauto.com

They show pictures of the different carrier bearings and size listings for both trucks. Coincedentally both 63 and 64 show the same 5 numbers of the various center bearings.

Jeff, thanks for the info, I'll check it out. Yep, I'm up here in Gods Country, been here about 17 years. I'm working on the 64 Stepside and will soon be working on my 52 3100 - are you local?

Jeff, I checked out ROCKAUTO and I can get the diameter of the shaft I have. It looks like what I need to start with is the "bracket" that carries/retains that center bearing. Any ideas? Thanks,

Jim

I havent dealt with a newer setup with the carrier bearing. I think most of these are now made as a replacement with the bracket as a one piece setup. It may be worth measuring the cross member to see what the spacing is on the bolt holes.

If you cant find that info on Rockauto you can always take those numbers down to Napa or wherever and have them get the parts so you can measure them yourself and see what should fit. I do that all the time, ordering several parts to find the one I need.

Im up on the north end of the Peninsula in the Kingston/Hansville area. We're just across the ferry from Edmonds. Ive lived here my whole life and I love it and I cant imagine a nicer place.

Good luck!

Jeff

Jeff, thanks. It's been awhile since I had the time to work on this "stuff", takes awhile to get up to speed.

Nice area up there. Jim
