For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2001 Posts: 199 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2001 Posts: 199 | I just put a camaro clip on my 59 chevy truck and wanted to know what springs to use. The car was a small block car. Should I get big block springs since my truck is haevier or is it fine with small block springs? I have the suspension all apart and wanted to get the correct springs before I put it all together. It is just a frame with suspension right now so I have no reference for the weight of the truck. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 843 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 843 | My 52 has a Nova clip. When I bought it the front coils has been cut.I decided on stock small block springs. It handles fine | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | This may suprize you, but a '59 3100 is actually lighter than a Camaro. Stock wieght on a 3100 is 3260 for a stepside, 3304 for a Fleetside. Thsi is the weight for a base model truck as shipped. Weight will vary depending on equipment. You don't specify what year Camaro that the sub came from, but the average shipping weight for a 2nd gen Camaro is right around 3400-3500 pounds.
