Looking at the bed, has anyone or can you relocate the fenders on the bed and cut the tail end of the frame off about 10" inches. just thinking, any thoughts? | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 Master Gabster | | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 | That would be a weird looking truck. My guess is you would have to cut the frame forward of the wheels. That would mean relocate springs from swinging outside the frame to attach to the frame like the 3100. Also you would need to shorten the drive shaft, and the running boards. I like the look of the short bed but also like the better ride of the long bed. Also I didn't see the advantages of the short bed out weighing the work involved in making the switch.

I took the extra length out just behind the cab, but in front of the front spring mounts, so the rear end could be left alone. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 348 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 348 | all you need is a sawzel, tape measure, small tee sqaure, a scribe, punch, hammer, and a welder remove 9 1/4 inches | | | | | Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 230 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 230 | a little bit of work but use the short bed and extend the cab ,i did it on a 55 1/2 .just put opera window's in it . | | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,554 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,554 | The ones I have seen shortened up had the frame shortened under the cab. | | |
