I installed a Ididit column saturday (tilt wheel with ignition)
1- mounting- was very straight forward as long as you have purchased the mounts (they are not included)...I fabbed up the under dash mount myself and purchased there universal adjustable firewall mount, install took bought an hr.

2- wiring- is of very nice quality and included options for different harnesses, I ran into a wrinkle as they were calling for 6 wires from the trucks harness but I only have 4...some basic wiring knowhow made it east to decifer how to hook it up.

3- ignition-the keyed ignition in the column works very nice but it takes a bit to get used to its location, they have the ignition under the column so your keychain hangs down and is not rubbing on the column and scrathing it all up.

4- finish-I opted for the chrome of course ..lol...it is very smooth and bright, and seems of good quality as I did bang it round a bit with no nicks or scratches.

5- price-compared to other manufacturers they are right in the ballpark and cheaper than some.

So to finish I would recommend IDIDIT for anyone shopping for a steering column for the moded truck.

Hi Tim, I just wish I could afford one! By the time they reach our shores they are expensive! :mad: I'm having to make do with a mid 80's Caddy column. The Ididit ones do look really nice though!

When I did my 55 I went with a Billet Specialties column,because the price was right.It was a snap installing it. I imagine that all of the aftermarket columns are pretty good and include good instructions.glad your I Did It went in OK.

I have one in my 52 rod...............I love the tilt wheel.. dont have the key deal, my key start is still on the dash..

I hope you took plenty of pictures of the process. I will be installing an Ididit soon and sure do need to know all the pitfalls to watch out far before I start on it.

A 32" fit very nice for length in my 52, I have bought 2" inside the engine compartment ...I went with the 1" 48 spline as that was what mated up to my caddy steering stuff that is in mine, they offer many output shaft styles...so make sure to ask and they come stock with the GM 3 7/8 connector for the harness unless you ask for something else.
There in the column key is the Cats Arse!~ I know it is a $100 buck option but it works really nice!..they supply 3 relays to downput the amps to the switch so it doesnt burn out and it works slick.

as far as quick responses to E-Mail or any ?'s ...they were Johnny on the spot!...I screwed up an didnt specify the end shaft I needed for my Application ..so they sent the POPULAR stock one...well when it wasnt right 1 quick E-Mail ..an they had me set up with all the info to return it an had the one I needed to me within a few days of recievin my returned column!

Your pictures show a steering wheel but it doesn't look like the IDIDIT wheel. Did you replace it with the IDIDIT? If so do you have some pictures of the set-up?

I uploaded pics of the column installed, You will see my homemade dash mount, also disregaurd the plate that the column is currently bolted to that will be coming out this winter just wanted to get back on the road I plan to remove that plate installed by the PO and mount the colum up higher and closer to the bottom of the dash, but for now it works great and Im on the road!

Where did you buy the ididit column ? I was looking thru the LMC catalog, and they want you to buy the column, an installation kit ($229) and a new harness ($55) in order to use their column. Did your column include all that stuff.

Look up ^ post dated 8/23 ...there is a link to the vendor i used.
column came with a GM 3 7/8 connector for the wiring, also read the 1st post ...it came with everything needed to wire it .
THEY DO NOT COME WITH MOUNTS...but you can get there uiniversal adjustable firewall mount for like $30 and the under dash mount I made myself just because the cheapest I could find was over $75.
Check out the vendors site they have everything you need for an IDIDIT
