| | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 84 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 84 | I have a 66 fleetside and would like to determine what is the practical limit for wheels and tires other than stock. I have the factory hubs, etc. and am shopping for wheels and tires now.
Of course I want good clearance and turning and I want them to bolt up to the original hubs.
Can someone steer me in the right direction here? No pun intended.

Use a wheel speced for a '71-'87 solid axle 4x4 GM truck, 3 1/2" backspace. You will have to remove the rivets that hold the front drums to the hubs so that the wheels will fit flush.

Got them for a steal at JC Whitney for $1300 delivered (yes that was mounted, balanced, and came with lugs and caps.). The truck had bigger tires when I got it. 31 X 10.5. They looked OK, but I decided to go with a smaller tire that would work a bit better in snow. Narrower is generally better in snow.
The new tires are Cooper Discoverer ATR on Pacer 107P Soft 5 Polished Aluminum Wheels. Out the door price, for 5 wheels and tires, was $1186.50. That was May of '07. The setup looks good on the truck. Tires are wide, but not too wide, for my taste.
