I have a 66 fleetside and would like to determine what is the practical limit for wheels and tires other than stock. I have the factory hubs, etc. and am shopping for wheels and tires now.
Of course I want good clearance and turning and I want them to bolt up to the original hubs.
Can someone steer me in the right direction here? No pun intended.
Thanks for any help.

Any good local tire shop that sells aftermarket rims should gladly offer to measure your truck and provide reccomendations and should be willing to guarantee they won't rub.

Thanks, That's what I needed to hear. I didn't want to get ripped off.

31x10.50x15 would be about the largest with a stock truck without rubbing. Use a wheel speced for a '71-'87 solid axle 4x4 GM truck, 3 1/2" backspace. You will have to remove the rivets that hold the front drums to the hubs so that the wheels will fit flush.

You didn't mention if it is a K, or C, but i've got a 65 K10 fleetside, and I went with 33x12.5x15 on new procomp 1069 wheels. Got them for a steal at JC Whitney for $1300 delivered (yes that was mounted, balanced, and came with lugs and caps.). Got pictures of them them at my truck photo page if you want to see how they fit. grin

I went with 30 X 9.50 X 15 on my K10 'Burb. The truck had bigger tires when I got it. 31 X 10.5. They looked OK, but I decided to go with a smaller tire that would work a bit better in snow. Narrower is generally better in snow.

The new tires are Cooper Discoverer ATR on Pacer 107P Soft 5 Polished Aluminum Wheels. Out the door price, for 5 wheels and tires, was $1186.50. That was May of '07. The setup looks good on the truck. Tires are wide, but not too wide, for my taste.

Check out the wheels on the net.

Had 39x15.5x15’s on my ‘63 fleet short box years ago, but it had a lift kit and don’t remember how much. Could park my porsche up to the windshield under it.
