BUT....I cannot feel the spring loaded button on the top of the light switch like the one on the replacement unit a got. I can see the slot for a flat screw driver when I pull the knob out. Do I have an older unit without the button?

I quess it won't be the last time I feel stupid working on this old burb !!
When the 283 is done and we install I have a complete custom wiring harness from Brothers and then the mess the electrical is in from tinkering over the last 40 odd years might get cleared up
