The #4 doesn't read anything, and we suspect a burned exhaust valve. My question is, is the 105 to 115#s of compression on the rest of the cylinders in the normal range? This motor is supposed to have only 20,000 miles on a rering, so I don't want to ring it again if the compression is in line. | | |

Check the cylinder walls for scratches and use a hole gauge to check for concentricity. Another problem could be a hole in the piston. In my experience, a burnt valve, unless it is really warped, will still hold some pressure. Can you hear it out the exhaust or through the crankcase?

This caused me to have no compression in cyl. 6. The machine shop installed new hardened valve seats and the usual work to clean up everything. I am almost done reassembling the head. I'll let ya know how everything works afterward--It is supposed to work, right???-he,he!
