For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 31 Apprentice | | Apprentice Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 31 | Got the brakes off and they are shot. The axle is not original to the '49 3100, but it is old.
It is a GM, third member type axle, looks like mid 50's. 5 lug. Stamped on the 3rd member casting is K196 8726899 GM. It is a little old, only number in there I am not positive about is the first 8.
Shoes on there now are Wagner P/N FE 22932 FMS-9. None of the part stores could cross reference that part though.
Thanks

Most manufactors use the same numbers with different prefixes. They measure 11 x 1 3/4.It evidently came from a car if it has 5 bolt drums. I have an old Napa catalog if you want part numbers. If it is open drive shaft it is 55 up.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing. 1972 Chevy c10 Cheyenne SuperIn the Gallery Forum | | | | | Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 31 Apprentice | | Apprentice Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 31 | That is the drum size. If you could look up the part number that would be great - I will try Napa for a 51-58 car though.
thanks

If you need any other part #'s (wheel cyls. brake drums. etc.) let us know. I have a Carquest catalog at the shop. I'll be there tomorow. They say money can't buy happiness.
