Got the brakes off and they are shot. The axle is not original to the '49 3100, but it is old.
It is a GM, third member type axle, looks like mid 50's. 5 lug. Stamped on the 3rd member casting is K196 8726899 GM. It is a little old, only number in there I am not positive about is the first 8.
Shoes on there now are Wagner P/N FE 22932 FMS-9. None of the part stores could cross reference that part though.
