I pulled the bench seat cushions and seat frame out of a 1950 Chevy 3100 1/2 ton in order to pull the gas tank. The seat frame has two long springs that appear to pull the seat forward. I managed to break one, so I'd like to replace them, but can't seem to find them online. Can anyone recommend a source?

You probably won't find them on line listed as 1950 Chevy 3100 seat springs. You'll have to look for them by size and wire diameter. Our local Ace store has a display of various springs but the selection is fairly limited. I bet if you googled pull springs or small coil springs & spent some time looking you'd find a source.

They don't pull the seat forward, the force the locking pins into the slots in the slide. If The Filling Station doesn't have them, just head out to the hardware store and find something that will work. They are out of sight so you don't have to be too fussy.

Thanks to all for the info. Today, I saw some standard 8" springs at our local Ace hardware store that may work. I can probably make them fit.
